Doing a self build battery seems appealing to many as it offers a significant cost saving over buying pre-built batteries.

The hardest part in building your own battery using Lifepo4 cells is sourcing good cells.

You can find LifePO4 cells on AliExpress, but there is the long wait, often months before your cells arrive (they can only be shipped).

You then have to source and buy a good battery management system (BMS) to look after your battery cells. These will vary in price and features.

Then there is the expense involved in buying the right cables, connectors and tools you will need to put it all together, it all adds up.

Safety is another factor, working with raw battery cells can be very dangerous. One mistake could be costly!

Warranty? In essence when you build a battery pack there is no warranty as its you doing the work required.

Time. Do you have the time to do a self build battery?
